YES-Ghana participates in Capacity Building Workshop for CSO’s on Small Arms & Light Weapons

Ho/VR/08-10-2020: Youth Empowerment Synergy (YES-Ghana) is participating in a three-day Capacity Building Workshop For Civil Societies on Emerging Issues On Small Arms and Light Weapons at Ho in the Volta Region.

The ongoing event has assembled over 20 CSOs representatives, security and police chiefs to deliberate on how CSO’s can advocate and collaborate with the Ghana Commission on Small Arms and other stakeholders to stop the proliferation of arms which has the tendency to affect the serenity of our peace.

The primary objective of the workshop is to equip and build the capacity of CSOs on emerging trends on small arms and light weapons, in order to enhance their advocacy abilities to complement the work of the various government institutions.

The workshop is organised by the National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Ghana, with funding support from the German Federal Foreign Office.
With our Young Peace Ambassadors Project, this workshop will form the basis to include and amplify the voices of the youth on how best to serve as peace ambassadors in their respective communities by discouraging the recruitment of young people to possess and use small arms as the 2020 general elections draw near.
